I am so overjoyed to be a volunteer for Reclaim Foundation. As a writer, I always want my words to have an impact, whether that’s through a social media post or a grant proposal, and it feels so fulfilling to give back to a great cause of supporting survivors by utilizing my skills. I also love that I get to explore different writing fields outside of my professional career with lots of support from other experienced volunteers. "I'm volunteering with Reclaim because it feels amazing to work with a group of wonderful, supportive people on an important issue they're all passionate about! I have witnessed various facets of trauma resulting from wildfires in my hometown in Northern California. I study environmental science because of this personal experience with natural disasters, and I'm particularly interested in environmental trauma and the intersection of climate change and mental health. I also care deeply about helping survivors of sexual assault and gun violence find community, hope, and healing, and I'm thrilled Reclaim Foundation was created to provide a space for individuals affected by any kind of traumatic experience to connect and heal."
